Windsor Ontario Development

There is plenty of buzz around Windsor Ontario about how the city is becoming more diversified. With myself being in the real estate sales industry I welcome anything and everything that will make the city a better place to live and in turn hopefully buy and or invest in. We definitely have our people that seem to complain about anything and everything. It’s obvious that any new development is going to affect someone in some form or another. I have included some of the current happenings in Windsor Ontario.

First we have talk of the new international crossing that will bring a large number of jobs to the Windsor and Essex region. I have seen this plan and I for one think it looks great. It will add green space and park land, new walking and biking trails and most important, will keep the trucks moving without stopping and starting on city streets. The city however feels it is necessary to continue spending money fighting the issue saying we need more tunneling. This is a project that needs to start as soon as possible, I don’t know for sure if the city is holding anything up, but I’m sure it isn’t helping matters. We definitely have enough competition from Matty Moroun wanting to build a new crossing (which I am not against either, why not have an extra crossing?) and the politicians on the U.S. side of the border saying, “Why do we need to pay for a new crossing if this guy is doing it for free?” Let’s get the shovels in the ground before they say forget it. “Build it and they will come”

Next we have the proposal of building a new Windsor jail or detention center just off Walker road which is being fought tooth and nail too. I’ve heard “not in my back yard”. What is the problem with this? I don’t see where it is all that close to residential homes (I may get an ear full). This is new investment for the city of Windsor and will create more jobs. Drive down Sandwich st. and you wouldn’t even know there is a jail there unless you were told of it. What’s the problem with that? The prisoners aren’t escaping and coming into your house. Again let’s get the shovel in the ground.

Windsor is also talking of putting a canal into the downtown area to attract investment. This one I am not too sure about. I think a boat dock in the downtown area is a great idea, but hey like I said let’s invest in Windsor. “Build it and they will come”. There are plenty of day-trippers still out there that may look to Windsor as a favorable place to stop in when noticing our gorgeous waterfront, Caesars Casino, restauants and bars.

Windsor Ontario is also looking at becoming a perishable goods hub. Great idea in my eyes. Many surrounding areas could be serviced through the Windsor Detroit crossings. I have already heard some people going against this too. There will be increased air traffic and more trucks on the road. Unfortunately this is part of investing in our city. Let’s get this project going.

Windsor is starting to lean more towards the professional sector from what I have seen. We have a new medical school, the engineering school is coming soon (I hope). We could certainly start catering to some of these graduates.

Windsor is a great place to grow, we have certainly hit a stumbling block along with the rest of the world, but we will bounce back. Where we bounce back to is up to us as a city, let’s stop fighting all the good developments. If you have any ideas to help promote or developed the city let’s hear them. Any ideas can be given consideration or even give brain-storming ideas to those who may have something in the back of their mind they didn’t originally think of.

Buying Windsor real estate

Chances are when you bought your first home in the Windsor Ontario or Essex County real estate, you were thinking of it as a “starter” and dreamed of owning a larger and better home one day!

With today’s mortgage rates at record lows and real estate prices on homes extremely affordable, you might be pleasantly surprised that you can afford that “move up” house you’ve been dreaming about. Using the equity you’ve built up in your current home, your carrying charges may not be much larger than what you are already used to paying. You might say “I will lose too much if I sell my home in this slowing market”, but if the market value is down 10% on your smaller home and down 10% on the bigger home you’d like to buy, you are actually saving more money to move now! If you are curious to find out, ask a Realtor® to help you calculate carrying costs on a “move up” home.

There are quite a few reasons why you may wish to move to a larger home, including a growing family, the desire to have more bedrooms so the kids can have their own space, or maybe you want a larger yard, a garage or a home with a private driveway. Whatever your reasons, moving up to a new home can be very satisfying.

It’s also a smart idea because the equity in your home will continue to grow and the value of a bigger and better home will be greater over time. As well, the pride of ownership in a bigger house will probably be even greater than you had when you bought your first home.

When you decide that moving up is the way to go, be sure to enlist the services of a Realtor® knowledgeable in the area of Windsor Ontario or Essex County you are interested in, we can help you make the right choices. After all real estate is our business. You wouldn’t go to a shoe salesperson for a car, right?

Your real estate sales person will help you determine the value of your current home, according to market statistics and comparables, and therefore the price range you should be considering in a move up home. You’ll have to determine where you want to live. Do you want to stay in the same neighbourhood or move out to a different area in Essex County? Your real estate sales representative is skilled and knowledgeable in all aspects of a real estate transaction and can ensure you make a smooth move.

Moving up to meet your changing lifestyle and needs can be an exhilarating experience. Your home is probably largest and hopefully the best investment you will ever make, so why not take advantage of the current real estate market conditions and enhance your investment today!

Whether you are looking to purchase resale real estate or build your new dream home I can lead you through the process. I work with one of the most reputable builders in Windsor and Essex county Ontario. There are also thousands of real estate listings to choose from currently on the market I can work down to a handful when I know what you want in your next home.
